Festivals and Events
For organizations, service clubs, or associations in a commercial or not-for-profit sector that hosted a community event(s) in a public venue between Jan. 1, 2014 – July 31, 2015. Applicants are evaluated on their ability to bring a ‘no waste’ approach to the fundamentals of festival planning and execution.
Five key criteria for this award:
- Communications & Education
- Quantitative Results
- Multi-Sector Participation
- Volunteer & Community Involvement
Industrial, Commercial, & Institutional
Open to any of the following subsets of the IC&I sector to showcase waste diversion achievements at one or more sites:
• Educational Institutions
• Retail Complexes
• Office Buildings
• Other Generators
Key elements of the IC&I applications are scope and characterization of waste goals and programming.
IC&I Special Program (New)
Applicable to private and public sector applicants to showcase effective results-based programming, which focus on waste reduction and recycling that go beyond regulatory requirements, e.g., a global corporate commitment with local measureable results, a public -facing campaign that promotes and engages waste reduction activities, or a product or service that integrates product/package effectively for end-of-life management.
Municipal: Diversion, Communications, and Special Program.
Each section is a stand-alone application, however interested municipalities can apply for one, two, or all three sections. Each section has specific criteria, will be completed through unique links to the application site and is evaluated individually.
Any applicant can apply for one, two, or all three of the awards, with each application to be registered and evaluated individually:
- $150 for a single application
- $100 for each additional section
- Maximum fee for all three is $350
Innovator (formerly Sustainable Product or Service)
Products or services that improve the management of resources, reduce wastes, and/or minimize negative environmental impacts during their own lifecycle or the lifecycle of other goods and services (as they are manufacture/produced, consumed, or at end of useful life).
